About Salt + Soil Film
Founded in 2025 by filmmaker Tasnim Hindeyeh, Salt + Soil Film amplifies underrepresented voices in cinema — centering Muslim, Arab, South Asian, and North African storytellers. Based in Chicago, the company develops original films while cultivating future talent through mentorship programs, script competitions, and lab retreats designed to break industry barriers and foster cultural resilience through storytelling.
Milk, our first flagship film, serves as a test case for our approach to storytelling and mentorship, reflecting the intimate, culturally rooted narratives we aim to produce. Over the next few years, we plan to train over 100 emerging filmmakers through our programs and competitions.
Where are We Now?
Since 2025, Salt + Soil Film has been building community and preparing our flagship film, Milk. This spring, we hosted a fundraiser at the Pilsen Community Bookstore in Chicago and joined FilmGirl’s pitch event, connecting with supporters and fellow filmmakers while refining our story.
